richard vickers

Richard worked as a photographer and designer, before becoming interested in the possibilities of interactive multimedia in 1994. He gained industry practice as a multimedia producer, working on a broad range of websites and interactive multimedia projects for commercial clients and arts organisations, before moving into lecturing. He is currently a senior lecturer in New Media at the Hull School of Art & Design.

Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the European Academy of Digital Media and an active member of leading professional bodies including the British Academy of Film & Television Arts and the British Interactive Media Association. He speaks regularly at leading international conferences and has been a juror for Europe’s foremost new media contest; the Europrix Top Talent Award and a judge for the prestigious BIMA Awards.

 

james field

James is a part-time lecturer in New Media at the Hull School of Art and Design, providing teaching and support in the areas of interactive design, web design and game design. He studied for a BA (Hons) in Interactive Multimedia with the University of Lincoln, and joined the School in 2004.

His current research areas include the use of mobile phones as gateways to social networks and games which is the primary focus of his MA in Online Communication. He is also heavily involved with emerging technologies such as 'geotagging' and multiuser mobile/PC web applications

James has experience as a freelance multimedia developer and has worked on e-learning projects for Universities as well as web design projects for local businesses.
